I’m Kimberly Wong, founder and lead planner of I Do Islands. I never imagined this little dream of mine would grow into something that holds such a big place in my heart – yet looking back, it makes perfect sense.

I married my high school boyfriend. We laughed, cried, fought, made up and grew side by side. I’ve been living my own fairy tale for over 20 years now, which is why I believe so deeply in the meaning of a marriage and ultimately, the wedding day. It’s not just the flowers or the timeline (though I love those too), but the moment two people say, “We choose each other, forever.”

Today, we’re raising our two girls, Adeline Grace and Hannah. Both of whom stretch me, surprise me and fill me in ways I never expected. Some days I juggle motherhood and wedding planning with grace and other days, it’s a hot mess.

Before weddings, I spent 10 years as a third-grade teacher. Somewhere along the way, I planned a wedding or three and a spark lit up. I took the leap of faith.

I Do Islands was built slowly… imperfectly… with grit, late nights, tears, sacrifice and endless gratitude. My husband helped me through the early years until he “retired,” and I finally brought on help. That’s when our team began to grow into the incredible group we have today.

Around here, you’ll see beautiful, elegant weddings but if you look closely you will also see the heart behind them – the real connection. The joy, the nerves, the behind-the-scenes chaos and sometimes, even bits of my own story. Every couple I’ve worked with has shaped me in ways they’ll never fully know… some for the better, some for the growth.
